===WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD FOR FINAL FANTASY VII: CRISIS CORE!===
Basically a oneshot describing the ending of Crisis Core. A few important things to know. Near the end, I don't mention 'his' name for a reason, but I'm talking about Angeal. The girl that loves flowers is Aerith, for those that don't know. The random quotes when he's remembering Aerith are in fact random. When the quote says 'some guy fell out of the sky' she's talking about Zack. He'd asked about her day, and she was being sarcastic because he really had fell into her church from above. Oh, and near the end, so it would make sense, I put 'Cloud' in front of a quote so people would know who he was talking to.

I stood facing the entire Shinra army, choppers and all, and smiled. I knew I was facing certain doom, but I wasn’t going down without a fight. If they were intent on taking me out, I was taking them with me. My thoughts were on Aerith, her warm smile, her happy demeanor, and it kept the smile on my face. The army raised their guns.
“Boy, oh boy,” I muttered, shaking my head with a grin. "The price of freedom is steep." I reached behind me and slowly drew my sword…Angeal’s sword…the Buster sword. It was huge and heavy and I loved it. It could withstand anything. I’d deflected bullets and worse with it. This sword had seen so much. I held it straight up, and pressed my forehead to it, shutting my eyes as I thought of Angeal, and Aerith, and Cloud, and every friend I’d made in SOLDIER.
“Embrace your dreams,” I muttered to myself. “And, whatever happens, protect your honor…” I paused, eyes opening. I lowered the Buster sword so that it was at my side, in an attack position, not defense.
“As SOLDIER!” I charged head on into the fray, sword swinging as the army opened fire. My sword slashed straight through the first infantryman I ran into, and I twirled into another, then spun around and attacked yet another. Still, their numbers were stifling, and they kept coming. I felt the bullets graze my skin, dig into my arms, and I didn’t care. The adrenaline kept me going, taking out one man after another. Several shots came dangerously close to my chest, but I still battled deeper in, though I could feel the adrenaline starting to fade. My strength ebbed out with it, though I kept fighting. I had to. I had to keep fighting.
Finally, there were only three standing before me. I couldn’t hold the Buster sword up anymore. It dragged the ground as I approached the first man slowly. They opened fire, and the bullets ripped through my aching muscles, though I trudged on. I swung at the man, but I think I missed. Heartless guns fired again, and the harsh metal of the bullets bit into my flesh. I didn’t have energy to cry out, and even if I did, I wouldn’t. I swung again, but the weight of the sword pulled me over, onto my back. I couldn’t get back up. My thoughts were hazy. I could hear and see scenes, but they made no sense to me anymore. Only one face still stood out among them all; Aerith.
An infantryman approached, and I stared up the barrel of the gun, aimed at my chest, at the soulless eyes of the man’s helm. There was gunfire, I heard a pained cry rip from me without my consent, and everything started to fade. The weak, fuzzy figures that had stood out so strong in my mind began to fade completely, until the only face I could still see was Aerith’s, and it was growing fainter. I clung to the memory, not willing to let it go. 'I have twenty three tiny wishes.' 'Want to hear?' 'He-llooo!' 'I’m Aerith.' 'I’d like to spend more time with you.' 'Do you have to go?' 'Well, it started out normal, but then some guy fell out of the sky!' 'Work stuff?' 'So pretty...' 'They fight, and they love it.' 'Besides, I’m the only one the flowers want to be tended by.' 'Hmmm…I want a nicer one.' 'This is my eighty ninth and final letter…' 'I’ll be waiting.'
The next thing I knew, I was staring into the face of the only friend I had left, Cloud. “Z-zack?” he stammered. I couldn’t speak for a moment. I couldn’t do anything. I noticed, of all things, that it was raining.
“For the…both of us…” I muttered, trying to align my words in the right way. I tried to stay still, but pain ripped through my torso. I faintly heard Cloud repeat me, curiously.
“You’re gonna…” I had to stop for a moment; I mustered up enough energy to reach up and pull Cloud to my chest in the only hug I could manage. It was a little awkward, and I think I got blood on him, but he made no sign of discomfort. “Live. For the both of us.” I had to stop again. Deep breath, try again.
“You’re…my living legacy.” I finally choked out. I thought for what seemed like a long time, but was only moments. “My dreams…my honor…” I lifted the Buster sword with the very last strength I had. “They’re yours now.” I held the handle towards Cloud, and he took it. I put my hand over his, and he pulled the sword to him.
“I’m…your living…legacy,” he muttered, and I smiled at him. I let my eyes close, giving in to the exhaustion that had been trying to pull me under for the past several minutes. I heard an anguished scream, and could only surmise it was Cloud.
Slowly, I opened my eyes again, and the rain had subsided, and the softest looking white clouds floated over me. I smiled slightly, then remembered. That girl. She said that…the sky frightened her. I couldn’t remember her name, just that she was very nice, had brown hair, green eyes, I bought her a pink bow, she wore a white dress, and she loved flowers. I smiled at the half blue, half white sky above me. That looks so…liberating. I noticed a shape flying in the clouds, descending. I smiled again. I never thought I’d see him again. But, friends to the end isn’t always just a saying, is it? He held his hand out to me, and I reached towards it, taking it in my own. Those wings…I want them too. He lifted me into the clouds, and everything felt so…calm. It feels…good. No more fighting or chaos or anything. Just calm.
Cloud, if you see Aerith, say ‘hi’ for me. I did feel a little regretful that I hadn’t gotten to tell her what happened, why I’d never came back, the truth about what happened at Nibelhiem, everything. I only had one thing left to say.
Hey, would you say…I became a hero?
