Alright, I had to do this.
-----
Name: Erik (last name unknown, assumed by many to be either Destler or Claudin)
Age: Um... in the book, he's 60+...
Gender: male
Roleplay: Open
Description: A tall man with a white half-mask that covers the right side of his face. His stringy hair is black with a touch of grey, and his eyes are a bright green. Black gloves cover his hands. He wears a black vest over a white dress-shirt, and black dress pants, with nice shoes. He is also usually seen wearing a cape.
His deformity makes him look like a living corpse. His lips are swollen and stretched across the right side of his face, his eye bulges out of his socket. He has a large patch of skin peeling away from his forehead to reveal his skull, and he has various scratches running across the right side of his face. His nose is only half-formed, and the skin is stretched tightly over his face. But the other side of his face is as handsome as his deformity is ugly.
Personality: Erik is basically an angry fellow, and will do anything he can for Christine. He also expects everyone to obey his every order, and does his best to maintain his reputation as the "Opera ghost". However, once in a while, he can be a nice guy.
History: Deformed at birth, Erik has been hated by almost everyone. He was first dragged along with gypsies in their freakshow as the "Living Corpse", then escaped. After that, he studied as an architect for a short period of time, then traveled to Persia. However, he was sentenced to death in Persia after building a palace filled with traps for the sultan (or whatever they have in Persia, I'm too lazy to flip through the book right now). He escaped that too, and was later found in Paris, where he lurked in the catacombs beneath the Opera Populaire. There, he remained in his house on the lake in solitude, composing, until he happened to listen to rehearsals for the upcoming opera. One of the chorus girls, Christine Daae, caught his eye, especially when he learned that she was orphaned and her father promised her an "Angel of Music". He followed her to her dressing room, and was glad to see that the mirror was one of the ones blocking one of his many passageways. From that night on, he would stand behind the mirror and teach Christine how to sing. It all went well until the night that one of Christine's old childhood friends showed up...
Raoul de Chagny, the vicomte and new patron of the Opera house, had come to see an opera. It happened to be the one where Christine sang the lead after an "accident" involving the diva Carlotta Gudicelli. Raoul followed Christine to her dressing room and invited her to dinner. She politely refused, but he wouldn't listen. And this whole time, Erik was waiting behind the mirror. He decided that it was time to take his student down to his lair. Things didn't turn out so well. His mask was removed, and after *a lot of* swearing and yelling, Erik agreed to let Christine go back up to the Opera. That night happened to be the night of an opera. The managers disobeyed his orders to make Christine the lead singer- so, in his rage, Erik killed one of the stagehands and made Carlotta sound like a frog thanks to his ventriloquism. Christine snags Raoul and takes him to the rooftop, where Erik happens to be hiding. They confess their love for each other and kiss, which saddens Erik. After a bit of crying, he goes back down to the opera and drops a chandelier when the cast was bowing, nearly hitting Christine (who is shoved out of the way by Raoul).
Six months passed without a peep from Erik, who was busy finishing his new composition, the opera titled "Don Juan: Triumphant." He shows up at the yearly Masquerade ball and crashes the party by threatening the managers with another broken chandelier if they don't obey him, then leaves. That night is the anniversary of Christine's father's death, so she travels to the graveyard. Erik takes advantage of this opportunity and pretends to be the spirit of her father. Raoul shows up and tries to tell Christine the truth, and ends up getting fireballs thrown at him from an angry Erik's skull-tipped staff. Christine leaves with Raoul, however, and Erik returns to the Opera to plot traps (*cough*like Oogie*cough*) for the nextr production, his Don Juan. He shows up halfway through after strangling the lead male singer and replaces him. At the end of their song, he reveals that he had heard Christine and Raoul's confession of love by repeating their song... and gets his mask removed in front of everyone.
To make a long story short, he grabbed Christine and dropped them into his lair via trapdoor. Raoul came to save her and ended up getting roped to the gate. The young lovers managed to convince Erik to let them go, and he disappeared into his disappearing throne as an angry mob came to kill him. He has since then lurked around his home below ground, composing and singing in the hopes that Christine would someday come back for him.
Likes: Music, Christine, singing, composing, Christine, darkness
Dislikes: Raoul (aka the Fop), humans in general, Carlotta, being disobeyed, those who can't sing, being unmasked
Faults: Erik is a stalker and a murderer. He also has a temper.
Strengths: Erik is good at composing and singing, and also stalking. Oh, and he's good at terrifying others.
Theme song: Seriously, like you have to ask? Music of the Night!
Friends/ Enemies:
Friends: Madame Giry, Nadir the Persian
Enemies: Carlotta, Raoul, various stagehands, Andre & Firmin (managers), basically everyone he meets
Anything else: This is actually what inspired me to take French. This and TNBC.
