"Well, there have been a series of disappearances around this area, concentrating specificaly on this street. I've come to investigate the matter, and find out who is comitting the crimes," Ichabod explained once more why he was there. "I 'aven't 'eard anythin'," Toby said, looking rather confused. He was so busy helping with the shop that he hadn't had time for gossiping. "Furthermore," Ichabod continued, "Most all of the missing persons in question were, in fact, male. I feel that may be a signifigant clue." SN was so frustrated! She could so easily give him the answers he needed, if only she could speak! But all she could do was meow, and that wasn't going to help.

Lovett frowned a little. "Dunno, love," she replied calmly. She was a good liar. But she was a little annoyed with Sweeney. Why couldn't he just forget that stupid wife of his? "Why, lots o' people disappearin'?" She paused for a moment, briefly glancing up in the direction of the barbershop, then told Ichabod, "Mr. Todd knows a lot about those murders." She'd willingly rat out Sweeney. He still liked his wife more than her. Why shouldn't she? "And I'd check out that chair o' 'is if I were you. Mr. Todd can be found above my shop."

"Thank you," Ichabod turned and made for the stairs. SN meowed loudly, trying to convey the fact that it was VERY dangerous in that shop, especially if you're close to the chair. Ichabod, however, had pulled out a pistol, and that made SN feel a bit better. He entered the shop warily. "Hello sir, care for a shave?" Sweeney asked immediately, in the tone he used for getting people in the chair. "No thank you, I'm here on business, you could say. Could I ask you to step out while I take a look around?" Sweeney did not miss the threat in Ichabod's voice, nor the pistol in his hand, and left without a word. The investigator set to work, looking around. Sweeney walked purposefully down the stairs, and then walked into the pie shop. "Mrs. Lovett, may I speak with you for a moment? Alone?" Toby glared coldly at Mr. Todd, and he glared right back at the young boy.

Lovett had perked up when Sweeney entered. She may have been upset with him, but it didn't mean she didn't enjoy his presence. "Mr. Todd, wot's wrong? Sure you can talk to me, Mr. T." She was actually a little curious. What did Sweeney want? And why did Todd and Toby seem to hate each other so much? "Toby, could you let Mr. Todd and I talk alone for a while?"
